Suff-X has been a Portland staple for over 13 years now. Originally part of the Virus! Crew, who ran (at that time), the longest running breakbeat weekly in the Pacific Northwest, and brought PDX their first taste of artists such as Tipper, DJ P, Kraddy, Dov, Atomic Hooligan, Aquasky & Masterblaster, Chris Carter, Murcutt, Incredible Melting Man, DJ Rasp, and many more. —He was also one of the very early NW artists to be signed to Muti Music out of San Fransisco, which has recently become a powerhouse purveyor of West Coast glitch-hop and electronica.
2006 Saw the release of his “Electromedicine” EP, which went on to receive huge support on dancefloors domestically and abroad.
In 2007 Muti Released a compilation CD “Clipping Paths” featuring Suff-x, along with Vibesquad, Ant-ten-nae, Ooah, Nanda, Dov, Kraddy, Audiovoid, Dov, Timonkey, Slidecamp, Kilowatts and other notable west coast producers.
In 2008 he released the “Six Pack” EP on Muti, which is still available on addictech, juno records, beatport, and other fine online retailers.
More recently, Suff-x has teamed up with fellow breakbeat-heads Electrokid and Roo to produce a series of randomly-staged underground breakbeat parties which survive under the name Basscult.
Whether he’s busting out old school breakbeat originals on his spaceship-looking live PA setup circa 2000 (a sight for gear-spotters to behold), or DJing fresh material—get ready to be in the hot-seat for some hot beats.
