Portland, OR U.S.A. is home to electronic music producer/DJ/performer Art Dubie aka MyMind. With influences from the likes of Martyn, Trentemoller, Phaeleh, and Burial, he places emphasis on the endless diversity of sound rather than the restrictions of music genres. Born and raised in provincial Russia, Khabarovsk, he grew up with an eclectic mix of hip-hop, rock, and slavic folk music as the backdrop to his daily life. As a teen, DJing quickly became a passion to an already avid music listener, and it took little time for him to delve into the deep world of production.

With his debut EP “At Night,” in 2013 – available on iTunes, Beatport, and streaming via Spotify and Pandora – he offers his take on electronic music that blurs the lines between genres such as deep house, future garage, dubstep, and dub-techno. The album features a welcome combination of sample-based production, original composition, and intricate synthesis that showcases a relentless curiosity for sound and rhythm. It was well-received in the budding Future Garage scene with a spot on Beatport’s Top 10 Must Hear Electronica Tracks in April of 2013 and positive reviews to go with it:

“At Night takes future garage to the next level. [it’s] one of those albums you need to listen to from start to finish. Burn a copy of it on a CD, plug it in to your AUX in the car, or just thrown on a set of cans and set it on repeat”

Following up on his successful artist album, MyMind surprised the exploding Trap music community with the heady and experimental EP, “Golden Ratio.” – available for free download via Bandcamp. His single, “Aquarius,” landed him on’s weekly Top 10.

When not working on new music projects, on his own or with peers, MyMind spends his hours in school focusing on improving his understanding of other aspects of production, specifically, composition, mixing, and instrumentation.

2013 should be a big year for MyMind with plans for more releases and live performances along the West Coast. With a promising start from a young producer, MyMind looks to be yet another talent from Portland to keep an eye and ear on this year.
